Does the pxw-x160/80 put the pmw-200 out of date? I was just about to buy a 200 but now I'm scratching my head.

Seems that way to me. But then, the PXW-X180 is aimed right at me. As is the Panny AJ-PX270. Just about the same specs, just about the same price. With the difference that the Panny is available now, kinda sorta (development seems to continue on, with only some frame rates supported with some CODECs, for now, I can't imagine why they thought this was a good idea).

Absolutely not, in my book. The PXW-160/180 have three 1/3" chips. The PMW200 and PMW300 have three half inch chips.

Better light sensitivity, better depth of field. For me the difference is chalk and cheese. I'm not buying another 1/3" chip camera.

I just found out that the px160 is only sold in Europe and not in the US. I don't understand this move. I really want the 160 and don't want to pay an extra $750-900 for WiFi and GPS.

The PMW-200 is being replaced by the PXW-X200. That might be your best option, depending on your budget and needs.
