Plugin for converting MXF files to QT

Hi, folks:
I recently completed editing my first HVX200 project in FCP Studio, but it's an unsuccessful edit because part of the footage is QT files, the other is not and I didn't know at the outset that it would make a difference later on. Now, of course, I have multiple frame rates on the timeline (23.98 for the QT files & 29.97 for the 1080i60 P2 footage) and the result looks horrible when burned to dvd. In addition, I've just learned that in order to convert the MXF footage to QT files I must have a 3rd party plugin. I'm a novice at this, so any help on where to find this plugin and how to convert the footage after obtaining the plugin would be most helpful and appreciated.

No, I do not think that is correct. While third party plugins are needed with some PC apps, I believe FCP converts MXF to QT upon ingest. Also, QT is just a wrapper. More information about your sequence settings, the codec of the QT files in your timeline, and what your export settings and method are would be helpful to respond to your question.

Wrong. FCP rewraps MXF's into a QT wrapper upon ingest. You can't edit multiple frame rates on the same FCP timeline. Might need to take some time to get familiar with the app.

OK, well I can't help with your mixed frame rate issue, but all you need to do to get P2 video into FCP is go to File|Import|Capture from Panasonic P2 (can't remeber the exact wording) and go from there. Of course, you have to have your HVX connected via 1394 Connect already (before startign FCP).
