Please take a look...

I'm glad you liked it.

For the interviews I used a Sony wireless.
For the live stuff I used the Rode N2G shotgun.

OK, first off, nice encoding. I've got a video I'd like to get up on Vimeo. I'm still playing around with settings. Whatever you did seems to be a good workflow.

I would have to say, nice audio. Everything was very easy to understand. The shots were for the most part framed up and nicely composed.

Here's what I didn't like:

Now, obviously you're not going to be able to get a professional lighting setup during the services...but for your more intimate shots/interviews, I found those shots to be a bit flat. So I guess as far as "tearing it up", I'd say the lighting was where this promo piece suffered. You need more background and separation lights, many of the shots lacked dimension. If you can team up with some one to handle lights, your next project will have more punch.

PS-Are you cutting on FCP? PM me your Vimeo workflow settings. I've got a video I want to get online so you all can "tear it up" as well!

I agree on the lighting, maybe a color gel or cookie on the background when doing the interviews. That would make it a bit more interesting. I thought the sound of the group singing was pretty good. Wow, you did that with one shotgun mike on the camera? Cool. As for the religious content. I think it is fine to show examples of your camera docu work. I don't think we should offer any disclaimers with the work unless it may be offensive to some. In that case we don't have to click on the link. Nice job with the video.

That was nice. Yeah the interview lighting could have been better as other have said, but the natural light stuff looked amazing for natural light. My only other comment would be that the pastor and his family looked really cramped on that couch. I think I would have just had the pastor alone telling the story and then maybe him standing with his family at the end telling the location etc. I'm curious as to the use of this though? I see people periodically post 2 minute (and longer) promo pieces and I've always been curious as to what they use these for. Seems like a 30 or 60 would be alot more useful. Any plans to cut this down?

I'm not trying to convert anybody.
I just want to get my stuff looked at from people who know what they are talking about.

Again thanks to everyone.

Not bad Michael.
I can see you had quite the challenge with colour temperature during the live stuff - a problem I face every week with churches & reception venues that have mixed lighting - at one point the pastor's head is as red as a beet ;)

The overall exposure looks good but you can definitely see that there was no professional TV/Film make-up person on hand, evident by the hotspots on people's faces. Nice lower 3rds and definitely a professional looking production - a lot better than most late-night TV infomercials.

Hey I also checked out your Smooth Solutions TV ad and I have to say it seems to have better production values - Very nice work!!

As far as religious content goes, as long as the poster is not proselytising we should all be mature enough to judge the work from a film-maker's perspective.

Cheers,

This video is for a local website about churches. So far it has done really well.
Yeah, I needed to white balance with the pastor. I didn't think it would liik that bad. Oh well, live and learn right?

Well put.
