My firsy ameteur film, re-done the trailer...I don't like the text at the beginning but i can't seem to stop that looking blurred. :)

I don't have the time to go through on a shot by shot basis. There were a couple of initial 'impression' shots, that caught my attention.

The initial shot of the girl 'felt' too long for a 'trailer'.

At about 11 seconds, there's a shot of the girl with a man, and all that is visible in the frame is the girls chin, the man's shoulder, and some person in the far, and out of focus, background.

At about 15 seconds there's a shot of bridge works that hesitates for a second, then starts a pan to the left, stops on the girl, then for the next several scenes, people and panning is moving to the right. I find that initial 'pan left' a bit jarring.

For a 'trailer' I also think a run time of 2 minutes is a bit long. The modern way of doing trailers is to have short scenes, and never leave a shot hanging. If the modern filmmaking nostrum of 'get into the scene late, and leave early' holds for the full length feature... it is doubly or triply true for the Trailer.

I presume this is a Action-Thriller type film, and the slow or sluggish shots didn't develop any sense in me of 'excitment'.

As a note, I usually preview these shorts and trailers 'MOS'... and so I can really focus on the visuals.

Thanks Clark :),
I think the bridge shot might have been a slightly jerky, I will take your advice well, and your get in late get out early :)

Hey there, I would have to agree with j1clark
the trailer seems to hang in places, I like what I saw but there may have just been too much, you know what I mean? Also along the lines of j1clark that it was not inspiring, From a technical aspect it is beautifuly shot but the music was a total turn off none of the shots seemed to fit it.

I think you are well on your way to creating some cool stuff, and your trailer is quite good, its just that it could be awesome! you have the content and the skill.

Thanks xylon, I love doing the angles etc. I must do alot to the trailer, including new voiceovers, and take the slow bits out or change the music :)...the part where you see only her mouth was some voiceover and I thought I'd use it to block out an in continuity of a hand movement, but I'll have a good look to see what else I can use, maybe people shots :)
