Century Diopter Lens 2.6

We had to shoot a ring for a Jewelry Commercial we shot and did some tests with the stock lens. My producer was not happy with the results and wanted to get a lot closer, so I did some research and asked Barry if the new Century Optics Diopter lens would be fitting. Here are the results between the two lenses. I'd figure I would share it with you kind folk. The reason we shoot DVCPro50 is because our commercials goto BetaSP to be encoded in a mpeg2 format which looks crappy when it hits the homes anyways.

Thanks,

wow, big difference! i know there's another thread on this, but did you notice this making the DOF shallower?

I really I had had a diopter to use on my short film.. would have made certain shots so much better.

Those looks great.

Wow those look really good.

Are you sure these are identical situations? It seems like an add for the diopter lens. Could the plain HVX not get any closer than that?

Yeah we could get closer but couldnt grab focus, so this is where the diopter lens came in handy. Yeah these are identical situations all except the one random
720p one I put in a normal 720x480 project. It was amazing the difference. And the depth of field was cool too to have. Glad I could share!

OMG. That is worth every penny for insert and table top stuff. Awesome. So it comes in different strenghts.. the higher the number the more of a telephoto effect? more macro type of shooting possible...

How would this look if you were not zoomed in all the way? Could it be used for like a headshot.. etc to create a narrow DOF is it is only good for zoomed in macro shots? Sorry not to up on some of this but I see the reason for being more savy with this. Looks sweet and that's how you could really sell the HD.. This diopter and a skater dolly.. wow

This looks sweet too: http://www.schneideroptics.com/Ecommerce/CatalogItemDetail.aspx?CID=1074&IID=5905
