Please, please, stop this on going trend!

What software were you referring to?

Personally, I don't mind watching YouTube clips of HVX200 projects. I'm very familiar with the "wow" factor of the camera and I'd be looking more at the composition, storyline, acting, etc. I can "look past" YouTube to critique such attributes.

But if it's test footage of settings, 35mm adapters, etc . . . well, YouTube doesn't really cut it. I would then like to see a decent Quicktime movie (or similar) of the footage.

I was debating whether i should post this because I have no clue about what the name was... It was however here in DVXuser that i read about it, and it was in YouTube context. Sorry to tease with no link, but it is out there, and it looks amazing...

Well, I've now looked into godaddy, 1and1 and dreamhost - all three appear to be geared to Windows and Linux only. Is there a comparable, reliable and accessible host / server available for Mac, besides iWeb?

you lost me. i'm on a mac and use a windows server for some of the websites i do and a linux server for others. i've designed over 25 websites in the last several years and havent had a problem.

I don't know if anyone made a list yet, but I see a few mac users still wondering. Stickypod.com has a free server for uploaders and there's no further compression. So what you post is what you get. It's nice of them to offer this free service, and it was what was recommended to me when i first started posting, and was asking for compression free hosting.

So there is no problem going with, say, godaddy and setting up my site and uploading my videos from a Mac? I'm also looking at a host that offers easy site design applications because I'm just not up for inventing that wheel at the moment. Sorry - I'm just now getting decent at making videos, each additional phase is a leap for me.

Really? they make camera mounts, but is their web hosting on the same site?

Ya it's on the same site, it's in the video or videos section. That's all the info that was given to me. It's no prob to register, and just upload away. The overall upload capacity is pretty big, but I'm sure it has it's limits.

no not at all. if you planned on using a specific programming language and backend database then you would want to choose carefully. videos will run on a linux or windows server and doesn matter if you're on a pc or a mac.

you may want to try what dogcat just suggested though so you dont even have to worry about that.

How about I make the DVXUser theater. Free uploads. And just have a banner ad at the bottom to pay for the cost. I have a server right now with A TON of bandwidth and stoage.

if the people that adverstise here are down, I'll do it. It's not like it really would cost that much to host...

That's a great idea! I'd be down with that as long as I could rely on it not disappearing suddenly overnight.

disclaimer: I haven't tried all of these, so please read before you sign up. if any of these is not what you are looking for, then I'm sorry.

Megaupload is pretty decent, but I don't recommend rapidshare because there's a very small download limit and it tends to not let you access the file for whatever reason.

I think, this is a public forum, users can do what ever they want.
and I dont see why it should actually make u angry (or anyone)... its just a blog. If u dont wanna watch them. then dont watch them, but u may miss out in some good story boarding.. pacing, etc. that why i watch them.
But...i do still like/prefer a double post High res and youtube.

Wow Siniarch, nice list! How much do I owe you for the research, lol!

Any good ones to start checking out? I have hosting but I still feel the need to know what's out there... it is a new medium, ya know..?

I'm baffled as to why people post cinematography stuff on youtube, or at least only on youtube. youtube is for quick comedy stuff where image quality doesn't matter so much. hosting is so cheap- a little more than a couple bucks a month.

Bus No. 8, it looks like the question was mostly answered but just to be very clear, when you talk about the systems these hosting companies are running you're talking about the OS their servers are running on. There will be compatibility issues with your Mac once you upload. OS X does have a server option but I've never seen a professional host using it. Unless you specifically know a lot about Microsoft technologies, a Linux host is your best bet. I've been on Dreamhost for 7 years now, uploading from a Mac constantly, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them!
