Hello everyone,

This is my first post here. I have DVX 100, the first one. Recently I have not been able to record audio even though I have input showing on the meter. I have fooled with every audio function pertaining the the mic's and inputs. Any thoughts. Please help.

well, you're on the wrong forum. and, you really haven't been very specific with your question. Try again.

Um, actually he's in the RIGHT forum. "Technical", and this is a tech question.

So what's wrong with the 12bit, Paul?

Welcome to the boards, and please excuse rudeness from others.

Yes, this is the exactly right forum. If you have nothing constructive to add, then don't say anything; Paul didn't goof, you did Dick. End of discussion.

First off Paul; welcome to DVXuser, and yes, please ignore the badmouthing. My apologies.

You can record in 12bit, but not 16bit?
Have you tried going back to 12? can you record then? - not that you should, but as a test.
What inputs are you recording from? External feeds through the XLRs, or through the camera's internal mic?
And, possibly more importantly, how are you monitoring your audio? - have you tried capturing some of this footage to an NLE, etc? - Basically: Where is your audio not showing up as it should?

I have had my camera for some time now. Some how the setting was switched to 12 bit from 16 bit audio and I could not record sound. I had audio on my meters but it would never record it to tape. I tried external and internal mics, nothing. I switched it back to 16 bit and voila, sound on tape. I will try switching back to 12 bit as you suggested and see what happens. I think it might have something to do with the tape. After I switched it to 16 bit I put another tape I previously recorded on and the display read 12 bit (32K) until the recorded material came up and then switched back to 44K.
