I shot a Wedding the other day straight to tape on the HVX. I captured the footage under DV NTSC 48KHZ, firewire NTSC basic. for some reason the footage captured has these weird horizontal lines on the subjects when they move. I played the tapes thru my camera to tv and it looks great? WHY is this happening? I used a deinterlace filter which helped but any time I use a cross fade it looks horrible. There is a grab attached to view. Please help me understand what is going on and how to fix it. I hope I don't have to re edit all my footage. Thanks.

Cason.

Nothing wrong -- you're looking at interlaced material on a progressive display. Edit it as you normally would and when you output to DVD and play it on a TV, it will look fine.

Make sure all settings in your workflow chain are "interlaced" and "lower field first" Those lines have nothing to do with compression quality

Sounds like you're working on a Mac with FCP.

What did you shoot in the cam? Interlaced or progressive?

What were your sequence settings when digitizing to FCP?

What QT settings when you exported to iDVD out FCP?

Better question is why you are using iDVD instead of DVD SP.
