Please Help! What time code should I use for a docu?

I am going to be shooting several things over the next few months but one of them is a documentary that is going to be edited in final cut studio. Should I always have timecode set to Rec Run and Regean and TC preset set at a frame value of O or a multiple of five if in 24p? If I shoot something else between docu shoots do I have to manually set up the time code so it matches the last one from the previous docu shooting days?

Should my first tape be set at 00:00:00:00 then every tape thereafter follows in that order if set to Regean?

Needless to say I'm a little confused about timecode. Can somebody please help.

When shooting single camera stuff, like documentary I use rec-run if there sin't a need for freely running TC (like keeping track of somehtign takign place for example). When I do rec-run I do normally set it to sequential hours. Setting the first tape at 00:59:00:00, so footage starts at 01:00:00:00 (after bars) and then each tape sequentially later. This give me unique TC in post regardless of the tape.
