Hi everyone,
I got my DVX100A today from Willoughbys.com, (paid $3300), and was extremely excited to open it. On their site they claim it is a Brand New unopened item with full USA warranty.
However, after slicing the tape on one side of the box I noticed something strange and stopped. The layer of tape holding the box sealed shut reads, "INSPECTED BY PANASONIC BROADCAST AND TELEVISION SYSTEMS COMPANY". Under that layer of tape is the original clear tape that sealed the box, and you can see that it was opened.
What do you think this means?!? Do you think it means I ended up with an opened box item that they sent back to Panasonic for inspection and improval in order to keep the warranty legitimate? Even if that's the case, isn't it true that they lied about selling me a brand-new item when in fact it was an opened box item? Does that constitute fraud?
Should I open the box entirely or stop while I'm ahead and demand a "brand-new, unopened box" replacement? Or, should I open the box and inspect the camera? And if so, how do I check the usage meter to find out how much time the camera may have been used before it was repackaged?
Please help me out here as I need to act on this tomorrow, and thanks for your help as always...
