I dont know what im doing wrong. The manual is read, i watched the video 3times already. its been almost 6hrs now. The merlin is not balanced. I balance it on my computer table and i move to another room while flying and it starts tilting lens up.

I have followed the cookbook down to the very 13.5" exactly, changed bottom weights couple times rotated the z axil over and trimmed and still nothing.

What im i doing wrong? When i watch the dvd video, i dont see the camera tilting abit side or up/down. its perfectly balanced. whats up? whats going on? is this just a myth?

Ok sounds like your getting the cam balance but still a tad top heavy.

Can you tell me your cam set up? Any accessories, battery your using.

Its important to note when balancing your Merlin that you do so with the LCD out,and then dont tough it.

just the stock 950 batt and a minidv tape. the lcd is pulled to the side for viewing. 2 days now and still no joy here.

Ok so lets go tthrough some basics.

1/ Take your camera off the stage.

2/ Set your trim for and aft around center also side to side trim.

3/ Replace the cam

4/ Make small adjustments until the cam sits centre.

How'd that go?

still swinging around. does the pilot need to be balanced as well? cause im gonna have to give up on this device. I already RMA'd it.

All of the steadicams needed to be balanced. I bought my merlin from Noel back in November and I just managed to balance it a few days ago. It's a frustrating process.

ok, maybe i will attempt this project another time. Right now i am looking at Lite Panels which are actually more important than the merlin. I will use my spiderbrace 2 for now, i need lights for weddings especially during lowlight dances.

the merlin will be another adventure later this summer.

OK I am just going to suggest that once you get it, you got it. And its really worth the extra patience initially.
