Please help Finalize lens selection A7sII

Last year I went to Bali for a couple of weeks, shot my vacation video (here) almost entirely with the Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS on APS-C (equivalent to 18mm on FF). For me, 24mm is nice and I use it a lot, but 18mm is even nicer. YMMV.

So you say the wider, the better on such trips? Batis 25mm is also 67mm, I would need less ND filters to buy and no need for any adapters :)

Stabilised in post?

Sky is not blown out, must be slog2? When I was in Bali this summer, I was too lazy and shot everything using Brandon's Li settings :) I like the skintones coming straight out of the camera.

On a side note, I read that you could a similar dynamic range as slog2 if you shot in cine4 and lift up the shadows, is that true?

"wider is better" is a matter of preference. I know I like 24mm, and I know I like 18mm even better. From there on, I don't know, I've never used it (I've used an 8mm APS-C fisheye, but that's a different game altogether).

I think I just stabilized a couple of shots in that whole video, but I'm not sure which they were. The one circling sideways, definitely not (that wouldn't be an easy one and I don't recall fighting with it). And I didn't use a gimbal or steadycam either: just a handle below the camera. I just shot slowmotion and chose the parts of the clips where I wasn't screwing up XD

And yes, it was slog2, whith these color settings. Cine4 is closer to the DR of slog2 than other gamma curves, but not quite there. My test.

I forgot, from a previous post: on an 85mm you probably won't get any vignetting if you use a 77mm filter on a lens with a 67mm thread. You still can't use the original hood though, you have to go either for a screw-on rubber hood (what I used to do), a matte box (too big and expensive for what I do), or just nothing (what I do nowadays).
