Hello everyone,

I'm a 100DVX user, and I'm confused to buy either HMC154 or HPX170 or HVX200?

We are small company and want to invest in 6 cameras, now the difference in the prices doesn't matter, we need stability and efficiency, also without any shooting problems, sound is important , the show has two hosts.
Also our show is about outdoors/indoors youth games, similar to (Telematch) in away, the shoot might take 15 hours continuous per day for 1 month! using 6 cameras.

our format would be HDV 720p, or HD 1080P, our post editors works on PC/AVID LIQUID.

I appreciate any advice

Marwan

Thanks

The 170 and 200 shoot DVCProHD, not HDV. The 150 shoots AVCHD, which depending on what NLE and OS you may need to either transcode to an editing format or edit natively.

None shoots HDV, and without knowing what "HD 1080P" means to you, can't advise further.

200 shoots to SD DV to tape and DVCProHD to solid state p2 cards.

170 shoots SD and DVCProHD to p2 cards.

150 shoots to SDHC cards.

If you don't need DV tape, I would recommend the HPX170 based on what you described above.

Well, now this is a problem. Are you saying that you will be shooting 90 hours of continuous footage per day?! So 2,700 hours of footage in a month? That's a lot... and that might make me recommend the HMC154 instead, just because of the cost of media.

Is each camera recording in isolation (ISO)? Or are you going to be using a switcher and recording to one master deck, live? Are you editing 2,700 hours of footage?

Thanks Davis, I'll correct my self to me HD and HDV, is about resolution only, I meant 1080p or 720P would be good.

Thanks Barry... and YES each camera will record on isolation (ISO), and we have 3 months time to edit the almost 3000 hours :), and by the way if its regarding the cost of the media, dont worry we ll have on set four mac book pro-s, for transferring the media cards from cameras, if I ask you, regardless from any small costs, what would you prefer to shoot with 170 or 154??

I would always choose a 170 over a 154; the only reason to choose a 154 over a 170 is the cost of the media.

The 150's a great camera and I love it, but the 170 is the same great camera but with more features and a more robust recording format and a more reliable recording media.
