I created some settings for various situations. Here are 2 of them and as reference the 2 original extremes Canon Log (CP8) and EOSStandard.
I made a MY-CINE1-warm setting for warm dialogue, interview sessions (pleasant subject, corporate).
I also created a setting that is fairly true to real life colors with the EOS Matrix. It is kinda punchy and pretty much what many people like although to my liking it has too much contrast. This can be handed of to broadcasters as untouched material.
For my own projects I will stick to CP8. I thought about making a setting with C-LOG and less blue in the shades, but in FCPX it is merely a -1 on the dark areas and it is done. C-Log anyway needs work in post and since it has so good skin tones, I don´t want to mess with this. I rather fix the sky/highlights if needed.
EDIT: forgot to mention what I learned from these tests: hands away from Cine2! It is like you have peaking turned on on your output. it is very videoish. I use "sharpness -10" on all my settings. That does´t help at all in Cine2, it just brings out hard edges.
With C-Log, tweaked EOs standard and Cine-1 it looks awesome on a 42-inch Plasma and might still look too sharp on a typical resized web clip. On a monitor though it looks just like your rental-BluRay
I know people rave about low-light. But it is more than that. The mix of rez, DR and sensitivity give this cam a nice look on a bigger TV-screen.
