Playing HVX files in quicktime

Hi,

I'm not having a problem playing raw Hvx files in my quicktime but when i give my shots to some one else to view it comes up with an error saying it needs a certain quicktime component.

Just wondering if anyone had a solution!

are they using windows?

if they using a mac, do they have FCP on their computer?

If they're using windows they'll need to buy raylight, $200. Not sure if raylight works with a mac, but quicktime DVCPROHD won't play on windows or on a mac without FCP.

Without the DVCProHD codecs, which are supplied by FCP, you cannot play DVCProHD QTs on any Mac.

If the file is just for someone to view rather than critical broadcast use, you can just render it out as an H264 Quicktime file at full quality and same resolution
as your sequence. The resulting file will look the same, for all practical purposes and
can be viewed by anyone with QT.

thanks guys but they figured it out on their end, the clips were being used by them to edit

Note: Not for use when Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Studio, or Final Cut Studio 2 is installed

and in the cases that those apps are not installed ...I have heard that it works very well (and solves the issue).

Ironic that I had to do the reverse to get DVCProHD QTs (from FCP)n to play on my Windows NLE (Raylight Pro Encoder did the trick in this instance)
