Hey Everyone,

I'm back with another update on our DVX100A-lensed feature horror film, "Plasterhead." The full length Teaser Trailer is NOW AVAILABLE for viewing at www.plasterheadmovie.com, under the "Trailer" link.

It's a high quality Quicktime file and I would love for some feedback from everyone on the board, as I know you guys will be watching it not only for the plot, but from a technical standpoint as well. Any and all feedback is greatly welcome, and I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about the film. Thanks for looking and enjoy!

Excellent trailer.. 2 thumbs up! Was that the dvx100 or 100a? what did you edit that on, and also the music was well placed on the trailer.. when is it scheduled to release? Please give details for all to view. Good Job!

Nice trailer, looks very professional, only thing is that to mee it wasn't all that scary although I don't know if you were going for pure fear on the trailer. I very much like the imagery though, looks like you have a killer movie on your hands (pun not really intended). As it looks right now, there is a very good chance I will be shooting a horror feature this summer so this is an inspiration (and also makes me jealous haha). Good luck with getting this distributed, from what I see it looks like it has a real chance!!!

Wow. Congrats to all involved. To me that looked wonderful. I can imagine seeing that trailer in a theatre. Grade A trailer. Only thing that stuck out to me a lil bit was the shot of the ranger/cop. A little too bright in the mids. Other than that excellent work.

I presume that you used the anamorphic adapter, am I right? If so, was it hard to get exact focus in the varying lighting conditions?

Awesome work by the way, incredibly professional looking trailer, I loved those crane shots!

Wow, awesome my man! Looks real good and I want to see it when available. If you can, share some tech stuff with us: 100a or 100b? Scene file settings, cc, budget?

Thanks & good luck!

Personally, I would start with just the VO of the two guys sipping beer. I'd drop their visuals - and then open with the crane of the house (including the road kill shot) - with their VO's overlapping those images.

All the rest was nice and slick.

Although I would end it with PH striking at camera - a nice end visual. Or you could even do the cliche' (works you know) when you end on a single shot - have film title, then FLASH-shot PH slashing at camera - then end the trailer.

I'm sure if you contacted LGF, this would be on the shelves of Blockbusters within three months.

G-luck, keep us all posted.

EJ

Thanks for all the kind words.

As I stated in the original post, this was shot on the 100A. With the tight production schedule (because of the low budget), using the anamorphic adaptor, with it's cumbersome focusing process, just wasn't an option.

As for the budget, I'm curious to see what some of you guys think it looks like.

This is indeed a finished movie. ADR work is continuing through July, and then we will be shopping the film around to see if anyone wants to release it. Cross your fingers.

Sweet trailer. Very good cinematography. Lighting is OK. Sound is nice. Overall good stuff my friend. The white flashes go full frame outside of your letterbox though ;). Looks HQ.

Check out this one- http://m-verse.com/portfolio/video/movies/ (Thieves Game) it was shot XL2... I just helped some lighting and did the trailer. If I shot it it woudl have been a DVX all the way...

arges - Once the final film is complete and nested in FCP, we'll be re-applying a letterbox matte to take care of stuff like you mentioned about the white flashes in the trailer (although there are none in the actual film).

This movie was a blast to make, and while I can't reveal an exact budget, we made sure that the money that we spent ended up on screen, either in locations (Blairstown Diner from the first "Friday the 13th" film), equipment (dolly & crane), and costumes, gore FX, and talent. I'm glad you are all enjoying the trailer and the website. More feedback and questions are always welcome.

Hey, great trailer! Excellent sound, except for the scream when PH was dragging the guy...it just sounded harsh, I'd redo that one.

I thought that first too, but then I realized that maybe that clipping was supposed to intensify that effect. It's different story if one likes it or not.

DAMN. That trailer made me actually want to watch the movie - and horror isn't even my genre - i HATE horror movies...normally. So wanna see the full thing

Hey guys, thanks for all the kind words so far.

Bradbro- nice catch on the overmodulated scream. It definitely needs to be replaced.

Mark Dog - our lighting package consisted of 6 Briteks, the breakdown of which was 2 1Ks, 2 650s, and 2 250s. We occasionally used softboxes when we wanted to simulate daylight.
