PL Mount to FD???

I know about the Hot Rod mount, which is of course top of the line. Unfortunately, it also has a top of the line price tag at around $1000. I live in NYC and have access to a lot of great rental houses where I can get zeiss and cooke cinema lenses for pretty cheap. I am really wanting to go this route for larger projects.

Any suggestions on a lower cost PL mount adapter that is a complete POS?

Thanks~!

Try the ceico7 PL mount - there are plenty of different options (simple PL mount through to a more complex one) - they are on EBay and there's also been a lot of discussion o teh AF100 forums about different PL mounts, so check those threads too.

The Ciecio7 is low cost, but it ain't great. But it's also not bad for the cost, and is my favorite adapter for the GH2 because it can mount a decently-heavy lens (a few pounds) directly on itself, without needing rails and whatnot. It's not shimmed properly, your distance marks won't line up worth beans, and the support shoe may not be square with the ground when you get it, but if you have a tiny allen wrench you can fix that part. Don't put a Ciecio7 on the GH2, and then mount the GH2 to the tripod -- that's asking for a busted lens mount. Get the ciecio7 adapter that has the tripod foot on it, and mount THAT to the tripod. Then hang the GH2 off the back of it.

If you absolutely need to use a PL zoom and have it hold focus throughout the zoom, or you need properly-shimmed distance in order to focus by the focus marks on the lens, then that's gonna mean needing a support system. But if you can do without that, the ciecio7 makes a decent size-appropriate and cost-appropriate alternative for a GH2.
