PL adapter without lens support

While I use Light Weight 15mm rods for most of my work, I add 19mm studio rods when shooting with the Cook 20-100 with the lens support mounted on the 19mm rods.
I know I sound like Mr. Safety, but I have seen bad things happen before, and I would rather error on the side of caution.

After all the great input from you guys I pulled the trigger and purchased the Vocas PL with rod support. I got a great deal from CVP around $700. Not bad for the system. Looking forward to getting it this friday. Now I need a lens to put on it :)
Maybe David will let me borrow one of his that he's not using.:Drogar-Happy(DBG):

I went with the Vocas mainly because I didn't want to replace the Zacuto base plate that I already have. The Hot Rod seems to incorporate their base plate with the mount. I have used the Hot Rod and it works well.

The Letus looked good but the back focus ring was a deal breaker.

Erik takes the first step toward the dark side of the force!
It's all down hill from the purchase of the PL mount. Expensive lenses, weight loss, selling your plasma, divorce.

If I were still in SD you'd have access to my lenses when needed.

All the Best!

Dave

You lived in San Diego? Very cool. I wish you where still here. Tomorrow I have a promo shoot and rented a set a Zeiss CP.2's. Looking forward to having my own set someday.

I think this was a big miscalculation. You should have bought an ARRI B mount adapter, lots of hidden gems out there in this mount. I remember fondly a certain 35mm Zeiss (maybe it was 32mm) from many moons ago. The little metal focusing ears are cute too.

Lens mount adapters are like a gateway drug!
Once you get your first taste you always want more.

Erik, I worked in radio in SD & LA many years ago.
Lived in Mission Village, La Jolla, Mira Mesa, Escondido, Poway.
Really miss the beach!

No miscalculation made.... I have PL adapters for my cams and a complete set of old zeiss cine primes 16- 150 in b mount. I have some B mount to PL adapters and life is good. Love the look of the old zeiss lenses the little focus ears. Great lenses for shooting hand held.

The Vocas PL adapter arrived and its really nice. I was surprised how easy it is to swap out the PL mount to a native micro 4/3 lens with the support still in place. The support ring has a notch cut out for easy access to the lens release button. That is good news since I like the 14 & 20 pancakes. Also the 7-14 fits pretty well. The support ring gets in the way just a little on the zoom but usable. My newly acquired Red Pro 17-50 will fill the gap now. Cant wait until Monday when it arrives.

Looks good Erik. You will have fun when your 17-50 arrives. But you and I both know it won't be enough. Congratulations you are now officially a lens whore!

By the way, my new Duclos 11-16 should ship next week.

All the Best!

Dave
