'Pixel Shift' Technology in HVX200?

Does the HVX200 use 'Pixel Shift' technology like the DVX100 does to deliver pictures which appear to have been captured on more pixels than the camera actually has?

Take a look at the "HVX-200 best possible pixel arrangement and count" thread.

Barry speculates brilliantly there - Panasonic haven't announced the details yet!

Well shucks... don't know about "brilliantly", but yes, keep in mind that it is all speculation. We simply do not know the details yet.

And just like the Canon XL1, and just like the vast majority of professional cameras made since 1987? According to Jan Crittenden, who has been continuously employed by Panasonic during this entire time period, YES. It's almost akin to asking, "Does the HVX200 have a viewfinder?"

Who has the patent on Pixel-Shift technology? I thought Canon licensed the technology from Panasonic - or so I assumed. I didn't realise most cameras use the pixel-shifting method mainly because most other cameras don't share the detail that the DVX100 has! I thought this was the 'one up' that Panasonic had when it came to image quality...

Anyway, my next question, does the HVX200 have a viewfinder?

It will almost definitely use some sort of spatial offset, otherwise the video would be striped. As to whether it employs resolution enhancement through sampling offset pixels, it would seem that they won't support it, no.
