C100: Picture profile and colouring advice?

Because the bulk of my work has such a fast turnaround I usually shoot on wide DR but I wanted to test some of the custom picture profiles that people have made. Kind of an amateur when it comes to grading and i only use the same 4-5 tools to get more out of my image. Looking for some criticism (however brutal) because eventually I'd like to start shooting 4k and really dive into the world of colouring. I have friends who do it for a living and I have absolutely no idea how they make their images look so good.

I'm hardly an expert at color grading, in fact I'd say that I suck at it. From what little I understand of the process, is the one thing that translates between all of the button fiddling on the different grading apps, and that's the purpose of grading, as in what's the look that helps tell the story. If you're going for a summer look, I'd make it warmer in color, let the sky show more blue instead of milky clouds, and show some brighter sunlit shots right off the bat to set the tone. The title says Summer in Grodich (sorry, forgot the town name) but the color says early spring because of the desaturated look. When I've worked with people who are good at grading they've been able to change the color to sell the story even if the original shot was something different, like spring for summer in your case.
 
I only use Clog and WideDR. They work great. Canon fixed a lot of the issue a while ago and updated the color science so if you use older home made profiles with the latest firmware it wont work right.

Download Colorista FREE and mess around with Clog.
 
Couldn´t see anything wrong with your shots, especially the ones in the beginning. So which profiles did you use? As Erik mentioned, since the latest firmware update, it seems best to not use CP made to compensate the shortcomings of the earlier firmware's color science...

I guess the main thing is to know what your final look will be before shooting, instead of what I currently do which is shoot flat and figure it out later. Also, and I feel ashamed to admit this, but I have not been up to date on the firmware updates at all. I should probably get on that.... Laziness on my part I suppose.

Update it! It changes the look of the camera big time. Back up your settings first so you can re install them. Saves a little time. Do it now!!!! :)
