Hey there! Just wanted to share some exciting news!

Last fall I was B camera op and 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] Unit DP on Kate Melville’s feature film, Picture Day.
Yesterday, it was announced that the film will make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this fall.
PRESS RELEASE

This Canadian film had a spectacular cast and crew and was a joy to work on.
It stars Tatiana Maslany, Spencer Van Wyck, Steven McCarthy and Jasmine Richards
Our DP was Celiana Cárdenas, AMC and we shot the film on two GH2’s, which I hacked with cbrandin’s 44M patch.
For lenses, we used a set of RED Pro Primes and a Duclos Tokina 11-16PL.

Here’s a sneak peek at a scene (in standard definition for now). I’ll be sure to post the trailer in HD when it’s available:

Huge congratulations to all the cast and crew!
I can’t wait to check out the film on a big screen at one of the most prestigious festivals out there!

Wow, congrats on that. It looks and sounds very good. But of course that's to be expected on a professioanl set.

Some of those actors/actresses look familiar. I recognize at least one of them from either Disney or Nick TV.

looks amazing! It would be cool to see what kind of sound equipment you guys were working with, sounds top notch. What shutter did you shoot at, 1/50?

Thanks for checking it out and the kind words everyone!

Aw, no anamorphic this time? :)

Haha not this time, the last two features I've worked on have been spherical, but our follow up to Hills Green will most probably be scope again!

Thanks, Ian! The cast were all amazing!

Thanks L1n3arx, Sean Van Delft was our sound recordist and he's great. I don't recall which mics he was using, but I think the mixer and recorder were probably Sound Devices.
And yeah, a 50th or 60th for our shutter.

Thanks again!

i LOVE IT!! Looks and sounds great. Once again, goes to show the camera is such a small part of the over all production. Just wanted to chime in and say congrats. A job well done!!

Thanks guys!

I believe all three screenings are sold out for now. But sometimes a few more tickets show up on the site closer to the shows.
And you can always get in the rush lines!

Looks great! what color settings did you guys use?

Thanks! Smooth all -2. The film was colour-timed at Technicolor.

Wow. The acting is top notch. Honest, simple, truthful. Nice work.

Thanks PaPa. The cast was incredible. Tatiana is blowing up right now, and for good reason.

Picture Day played on the massive fake-IMAX screen in the photo below.
The film looked pretty great up there. The wider shots weren't razor sharp but nothing your average cinema-goer would notice.
Close ups looked fantastic.
The audience really enjoyed the film, and it was a lot of fun to watch it with a sold out crowd!
