Pics of shoot35 Ltd 'CINEbox' 4x4 Matte Box Prototype

To those of you saying that 399 British pounds is too expensive....

Seriously guys. Try to find some other company offering this combination of build quality, fit, finish and intelligent design anywhere close to $635 USD as of this writing. Redrock Micro start at $850. Cinevate is $900. Genus start at $800. Petroff is around $1200. Chrosziel is $1400++++. On and on. Crap from Cinecity/India doesn't count. I have a Cinecity Mattebox and it's horrific. I do have a Shoot35 Follow focus, and I'm extremely satisfied.

I know that budgets and what's "expensive" is relative for everyone, but for me, 399 is mind-blowingly competitive. I'd rather Wayne not lower the price but work on getting the design right. That way, he can stay in business and keep offering more products with killer value propositions like this.

PS. Wayne, I take endorsement checks in U.S. Dollar :) Just Kidding! (or am I?)

Hi Guys,

We do not have the clip on part here yet, so can not give the weight right now.

Meauounji, check is in the post ;)

It looks very nice, but I think it was the wrong decision to limit it to 4x4, rather than going with 4 x 5.6. Mostly because it's easier to rent 4x5 filters from professional camera rental houses here in LA at least.
And you can (almost) always put a 4x4 filter in a 4x5 tray.

But if the price is right, I'm sure it will be worth it for many people.

Its great seeing something in this price range. The design looks great and solid. Id get one straight away. Do you ship to Indonesia? Any rough estimate when we can expect it ready for shipping.
We are preparing for some new investments. Im lookin at the redrock at the moment, but id rather go for this model. Great work!

Hi,

We will be offering 4.56 trays after the initial release, but they will have limited rotation due to the 4x4 frame. 4x4 was chosen to allow a smaller & lighter design to fit with the smaller DSLR rigs.

We hate pushing back release dates but due to lead time in machining all of the aluminium parts, we can only begin assembly of the first batch early December.

Because of this, we have decided to hold off the release until 4th January '11. So this will be one of our 'new for 2011' products.

It is very easy to get cought out early on when trying to estimate release dates, there is so much to organise for a product like this, but we beleive it will be worth it :)

Sorry, we don't ship to Indonesia.

How about Japan?
Another question which might be irrelevant dependent on the first answer: how does the size compare with the redrock? That thing is enormous when coupled with my GH-13. I noticed you said it was aimed more at the dslr crowd so I'm hoping it'll be significantly more petite :)
Very, very nice design by the way.
Cheers,
Sam.

Hi,

We ship to Japan, yes.

The CINEbox is smaller than the Redrock but bigger than the Genus...I beleive that we have the right balance.

Would the Shoot 35 Cinebox work with Scarlet when it comes out next year?

Would the Shoot 35 Cinebox work with Scarlet when it comes out next year?

Just curious if it will work both with my DSLR and with Scarlet if I buy it?

Compatible?

Compatible?

It would be great to use Cory Easom's Halo Rig with the Scarlet and the Ziess ZE lenses.

OK,

The CINEbox is designed to fit standard 15mm rods, 60mm spacing. You would then need to purchase the correct connection rings for your ZE lenses (depends on their filter thread size).

wow...once again this looks amazing Wayne.

Hope that price stays as to me that is a great deal, hopefully I can afford it soon.

Daniel

As far as flex gear for the Zeiss ZE lenses, Its seems your flex gears are close to Zacuto's gears and I have already gears that fit the ZE lenses. Are you saying your gears are very specific to your follow focus? Do Zacuto flex gears work on your follow focus?
Thanks

Hi,

Our FLEXIgears are standard 0.8 mod pitch so will work with other follow focus units. Similarly, the Zacuto gears are 0.8 mod so will work with the CINEfocus.

Hi,

As mentioned in the 'preview' thread, we had to get some parts remachined (the 15mm clamp & swing away) as we were not happy with them. This has now been completed and we will be collecting these from the machine shop on Wednesday.

All packaging and manuals are printed and ready to go, about 30 CINEbox units have been built up (both Red & Black) and we are finishing off the order pages for the website. We could have this ready by the 31st at a push but we have decided on the 7th Feb and this looks to be the set date now guys :D

Its been a long 14 month journey for us but we are finally there (nearly :) )
