Photoshop CS4 won't open JPEGS anymre! Help!

I have no idea why this is but I would try a system restore to the last restore point in which jpegs were recognized and see if that does the trick.

don't do a system restore, some new software just messed up the file associations

just right click a jpeg and choose "open with" then choose photoshop from the list and make sure the 'always use this application' checkbox is checked.

Try this:
1. Right-click on a jpeg and choose "Properties."
2. Under the General tab, click "Change" across from "Opens With..."
3. Choose Photoshop.

I'm running XP. Whatever you're running may be slightly different.

It is your bits. Change the bits :)
Or maybe you are using Adobe browser, but I suspect your work area is in a setting that doesn't support JPEG.

If XP:
Open any folder and choose: Tools > Folder Options > File Types(Tab)
browse down to .jpg and double check the program that is associated with the file type.
If it is not PShop then hit change and browse to the photoshop .exe

If Vista or Win7 then google "change file association" or something similar for your OS. HTH

This is a problem that comes up from time to time (along with the "photoshop can't complete your request" message that will pop up even when there's nothing open in photoshop...)

I can't recall the fix, but it should be all over google. Try searching?

Hi Gary,
Have you tried reinstalling your VGA card? Which operating system you have?
Have you tried any other software to view your JPEG files like ACDC, dream viewer etc?
