I just placed my pre-order at this Washington DC photography shop.

I was looking for the 24-70mm f/2.8 and they have five stars with 486 ratings.

I talked to their online department and they confirmed all of the following:
_ I am "about #6" on the pre-order list
_ I am "at worst #10"!
_ They did order several times more than that

It seems they are getting them "this week". He said "could be today but I don't know". I didn't want to bug him so I said thanks and let the guy get back to work. So it could also be Friday.

Worst case scenario, I should get mine by next Friday the 9th at the latest.
 
My experience has been that amazon customer service has no more information than we can see by signing into our amazon account.
 
I am sure they don't have that many pre-orders still. They are a shot in DC where people mostly buy shoulder ENG cameras or DSLRs for stills. I would suppose most of their business is from news network people. I'd give them and ask how many are on the list. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Five star rating with almost 500 ratings is not shabby at all.
 
They received them later today. The orders are being processed and will ship out tomorrow.

So does Saturday count as a shipping day? If so, since I think it is only 4 days via ground shipping, I should get mine as early as Monday.
