Photo drive for offloading

Hi,

I just found this photo offloading device, generic brand that saves any file from an SD or other memory card.
Similar to this, but not the same brand:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/573624-REG/Digital_Foci_P19_250_Photo_Safe_II_250GB.html

Only the one I found has 500GB of storage, price is 135 USD.

Might be worth carrying around instead of a laptop, what do people here think? Anyone any experience with them?

Martin
(btw I've done some searching but haven't found this topic in the forum yet. So I'm sorry if this has come up before. )

I had the idea a while back to use a photo backup drive for field shooting but couldn't find the device I had in my head.
Thanks for posting this

After looking at the link and doing some math I've found that this device would totally cramp my style simply because of the transfer speeds. It says 1GB would take 3.5 minutes to transfer. So the 16GB cards I use would take about an hour to transfer. That's not cool

Yeah, I second the NextTo
They have a designated video one though, but I've heard the gold ones do just fine with 5D footage, and could assume its the same with the 7D

agreed on the slow transfer speeds, like i said i saw a different brand. I would just take my old laptop if I had to pay more than 150 USD though...
