Phantom Power Turning Off and On

I know a lot of us in a shoot do not turn off the phantom power every time we connect and disconnect the xlr mic like the owners manual says to do. How bad is it to do this, and what's the potential damage factor that can occur?

Make sure you do it, good habit to get into. It's in much the same bag as connecting your Firewire plugs with the power on, possibly shorting the rig out.
