C100: PF25 and Re-Wrapping

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone here has any information regarding recording in PF25 and importing into FCPX. I have imported straight from the card into FCPX, set project to 25p, etc and after the files have imported it shows up as 25i in Info. I can then change it to Progressive in 'Settings view' and this then changes the clip to 25p. (As opposed to 25i). I have Clipwrap and have tested it by importing into Clipwrapfrom the card, changing Output Format to ProRes 422, converting it, then importing it into FCPX and it is seen automatically as 25p.

Which would you suggest is the best way to do this? We shoot mostly weddings so there is quite alot of the usual 'romantic' slo-mo and 25i looks awful whereas 25p is manageable. However we get between 10 and 12 hours of raw footage shot on the C100 and 5D mk3 so I need the quickest method without compromising quality!

Any suggestions of advice would be most welcome.

Cheers all

I had a few issues with the newest version of ClipWrap with C100 footage, and reverted back to doing the switch to Progressive in the settings view.

The ClipWrap files, which were simply re-wraps rather than transcodes, would be fine for about 95-98% of the batch, and then there would be a few poisonous ones that, once selected, made FCPX run badly and need a quit and re-open.

This wasn't a once off - went through 3 stages of going back to original cards and re-importing, thinking I'd done something silly. Everything happy when AVCHD imported 100% into FCPX straight from cards (x7), then changed en-masse to Progressive in the Event window. Also, everything fine via 5DtoRGB, but rarely have the time to do mass conversions. ClipWrap was a saviour for the FS100 and its 1080p50, but I'm leaving it alone for a while with the C100.
