C100: Petrol LCD Hood for C100

If anyone is interested in the PA1018 LCD Hood for the C100, I took the plunge and ordered one and I just received it today. My first impressions are very positive.

I haven't had a chance to use it on a job yet, I was hopping I'd get it last friday for an outdoor gig I had this past weekend where I really wish I had it, but unfortunately it didn't get here till today.

It seems like a very well designed and well constructed product. It sits solid on the LCD. I was worried that It might be flimsy and flop around but it's not going anywhere.

If anyone has questions about it, let me know and I answer it as best I can.

Hi Tim,
I also have one of these and have been using it for about 3 months every time I shoot outside. It is very effective in all but the very brightest conditions - when the sun is behind me I find myself having to cup my hands above my eyes and over the sun hood to remove reflections. I find it helpful mainly when composing and focusing (with peaking) though exposure can sometimes be bit harder. The benefits it has over a loupe is that it is light enough that the LCD can be placed at any angle and won't move and it can be left on all the time, for example when on a slider or mini jib - a loupe would be useless in these situations as you won't be able to see the screen. In certain scenarios some form of Loupe would be more effective but this little hood as kept me from making the jump.

All in all it is worth the low cost.
