GH2 Perhaps the first full feature movie on the hacked gh2... incredible trailer

HOLY SH*T, ITS ON!!!! Think I just had an orgasm... THIS IS AWEOME!!!! How did you find out he used the hack for this? It doesn't mention it in the description.

"thanks guys, record it, smooth (all -2) (tokina 11-16/Nikkor 28mm / nikkor 50mm) and the old patch 42 mbps. slds."

In the response below to question below the trailer.

It is a milestone for the gh2, and what a milestone, just looks incredible. Seen so many time people saying, hey the Canons did this and that, who would do a film on this camera. It was as if just a geek stuff. Very very filmic a little hdriiiiii in some shots perhaps it was done on purpose, it looks a bit more gritty for the hard sceen, but very good DR and the rest...

This will finally shut some people up. Everyone including myself have done some pretty decent "tests" but this... wow.. I mean how can you even argue... even trying would make you look silly after watching this. Aside from the fact that the movie looks plain awesome, it is technically speaking, the best looking DSLR trailer for a movie I've ever seen... period.

Pictures look pretty good to me. No need to use the camera as an excuse for not doing your thing, way too much choice now.

just bumped on it too.
lets see who's gonna try finding any flaws on this..
(oh, look, the overblown skies... nahh, i'll stick to my 5D... :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG))

Beautiful visuals.

Definitely some weird psuedo HDR grading mattes on some shots. But overall looks great.

HDR stuff was a little odd...

But, if anyone needs a show of what this cam can do in the hands of a competent shooter, just point them to this trailer.

Done deal.

P.S. 11-16/2.8 Tokina is pretty much a must for GH users. Sorry, but that lens is cinema quality from the get go.

Which are the HDR shots?

I didn't notice any - I see some very well composed and well shot images here. From a technical standpoint - love the look, the texture, the smooth roll off the highlights. Doesn't announce the DSLR look [ie: super chunky plastic, over-exposed, soft resolution and shallow depth, wobbly].

It's competent, professional and very nicely done. Now we just got to judge it on the most important aspects which is the story and performance only now =]

Kinda silly. Given the consumption format that could have just as easily been shot on almost any other HDSLR or RED camera and looked the same. Why do people with GH2's need so much positive reinforcement? Just shoot something already.

Well not quite - it could easily have been shot on another HDSLR [7D, 5D, D7000 whatever] but it wouldn't look at all like this [because the GH2 is sharper and more filmic, no?]

It's not like we're asking for positive re-enforcement, we know that DSLRs are capable for features [Tiny Furniture, House MD, Like Crazy, Kim Ki Duk's Arrirang etc.]. It's nice to know when another film is being shot on it...

Yeah, all the dslr that we have could have delivered so much detail without moire and aliasing, I have a 7D and just the two first scene, one of the little road and the one with the man from the back would have failed miserably. Why we do that because we know what this little $ 700 plastic thing can do and had to bare with many people telling us that... any dslr can do that. Show me some Canon shot that can do just the first two scene and then we can continue this discussion. We had to bear the big Fanboy Canon talk from their perch like, "hey show us the movies that have use the gh2, like the Canon that has been use in X,Y,Z film" even if the gh2 has been only really available the last 6 month. That is why this movie is a milestone because it puts the gh2 in a true professional work with real production value. No one can say now with the quality before our eyes that the gh2 is not a capable movie camera.

The delivery method and compressed resolution over youtube / vimeo.. is only one part of a pretty big pie. I can watch something @ 480p and easily tell if it was red or a canon dslr. As far as the quality of the picture goes, it makes no difference whatsoever if something is presented @480p or 1080p or raw... It's more pleasing to watch something at a higher resolution but unless you're blind... anybody remotely interested in cameras could tell the difference. If I see a woman from 5 feet away or 25 feet away, there's no difference in how I perceive how "hot" she is. I look for big ____ a wide ____ and a big ____ . As with a camera you look for certain things that depend NOTHING on resolution. Honestly it's about as obvious as looking at a pile of foreign change and not being able to tell the difference between the various coins because they are the same size... I mean, forget about shape, color, depth, I mean if they are same size, they are the SAME! Come on!
