C300: PERGEAR CFExpress Cards

I'll preface this with the fact that I dual-record nearly all the time on any camera that supports it. Only time I don't is when the footage is pretty easy to replace or I'm just playing around.

I just got two of the PERGEAR 512GB cards that were reviewed on Newsshooter a while back (link: https://www.newsshooter.com/2021/01/28/pergear-cfexpress-type-b-512gb-memory-card-review/). Figured I'd give a report for anyone who might be interested in these for the C300 Mark III and Canon R5.

The read/write figures on the packaging (and the cards themselves) are a bit... optimistic. I get a pretty solid sustained 500-510MB/s write and about 1050MB/s read... a far cry from 1600MB/s read and 1200MB/s write they advertise on the tin.

This is using a Sonnet dual-slot CFExpress/XQD Thunderbolt 3 reader... so the reader will suck down data at whatever rate the cards can supply it.

That said, 500MB/s is 4Gb/s... which is plenty to record anything I'd need to on my two cameras that use CFExpress (C300 Mark III and R5)... and they are pretty cheap.

I'm going to use them as a dual-record destination for a bit before I "trust" them... and how they perform there will determine if I keep them or return them and snag a couple of Angelbird or more Delkin cards.

For comparison, my Delkin 512GB cards hit about 1000MB/s write and 1450MB/s read.
