PC all the way.

Thought of getting a MAC so I can atleast be able to navigate it and learn some of its workflo. So when people boast about MAC being superior to a PC, I could easily dismiss such folly.

I have always been interested in getting the best tools that I can afford, so the difference between a MAC and a PC system is not significant enough to warrant a switch over to a MAC platform.

The people of the industry may as well all be using MAC systems, but my Panasonic HVX200 doesn't spit out a MAC flavor DVCPRO HD onto my FS-100.
I think there is however a conspiracy for all standards be owned by Apple. Shhhh!!! Now I hear there will be Quicktime file for the FS-100.

I don't work for the industry and my Adobe Production workflow is cool. And I think alot of MAC guys were crying to get it, thats why I think Adobe is bringing it back to the MAC platform.

I am not a professional, however I like to do special effects and stuff. I have been able to replicate the stuff that the big time Studios do with my off the shelf components. Well, I have not printied to film yet....Which might not be neccessary.

Anyways PC all the way.

Just to throw another wrench in the evaluation -- the new version of the FS-100 firmware will make the FS-100 record a Mac flavor of DVCPRO-HD. Should be a big bonus for FCP/FS-100 users.

I have 2 older (Last year) G-4 Macs laptops with FCP studio and the slot for P-2 cards and have had no problems downloading to them. I use a G-5 quad, older one with 4 2.5g processors and 4.5g ram to edit on and have no problems editing on it. I also have a couple of PC's but I just use them to surf the net (Like here) and do word processing as well as use them for programs that don't work on a mac, like iClone and CrazyTalk which will be used to do some light animation work in my film Holy War. I like the macs for ease of use and stability and the PC's for a wide platform that can be used with many programs that will not run on a mac.

I think the Macs are better than the PC's because I have never had a mac crash, something I can't say about the PC's.

Also, almost unanimously I've found that people who run their PCs for editing purposes keep them exclusivley as such. Deleating many of the obstructions on the PC side.. and most of them don't go online with these valuable computers because of the treats and amount of viruses and crap that are out there for the PC. None of this applies to the Mac. If anyone can create or develop a Mac virus you'll get a million dollars. I believe that this has been offered for the last 10 years without any winners. Now on my PC that I run a printer off and such... I've had to reinstall the O.S 3 times since I got it from virus crap.. Not to mention when I have to install any new hardware into the PC...

I've also found that PC people usually only tend to say positive things about their boxes when they are in a pissing competition with Mac people... otherwise they are cursing them as they are so unreliable.... I recently left my Mac running for 15 days on a render.. came back and it was still chewing on the data.. saving and backing up... I don't think the PC in my office would last a day. And it's not a POS either, but then again that's a relative thing compared to the beloved Mac OS.. The only problem I've ever had is when harddrives fail.. That's it. SIMPLE as pie...

But, the PC video games are nice. The graphics cards are nice.... and the fact that they are so cheap... well I guess what you pay for. One is a Lexus and one is a Kia...

Nothing gets people more up than this chat.... and glad to see that 60 percent are on the Apple tip!

FS-100 currently outputs MXF p2 format, which is read by both platforms. Try to get your facts correct.

No body that uses FCP is "crying to get" Premiere.

You can't be serious.

Knock the OS flames.

Please.
