1080P 30fps

Pentax's have built in IS and no clue if they added manual controls vs. past Hybrid cams but Pentax may finally have something to throw into the ring. Anyone following this?
 
In camera IS would be so sweet! This is something that the GH1 is lacking... or should I say they are lacking in fast wide lenses with IS.
 
The cheaper K-r had 720p25, so hopefully the 1080p option with this camera will also be 25p for us PAL people. I have 5 old 1980s manual Pentax prime lenses which I enjoy using on the Canon 550D; would be great to actually use them on a Pentax camera once again.

IT FINALLY HAS MANUAL VIDEO MODE!!

THIS IS NOW A TRUE CONTENDER.

30 fps or 25 fps (not sure if that's an option or if by region)

Ext. Mic Jack and built in IS and a very nice 16mp sensor.

In case anyone was wondering, the K-7 (the old model) was neck in neck, some saying better in areas, than the Canon 7D.

So the K5 should certainly warrant enough respect now that it has Built in IS.
 
Generally being Pentax man I am sad looking at latest Pentax bodies.

Look at D7000 and its features and price.
And look at K5. No chance.

Pentax IS is generally useless for video, as it is noisy as hell, plus works not very good for such task.
 
The question is does it have a decent codec? The K-7 has up to 70Mbps m-jpeg which looks better than Canons implementation of H.264. The other question is does this Sony 16MP sensor perform better in low light than Nikons D7000 sensor?
 
Whoa slow down everyone... there is nothing solid on this this camera yet. So far it's all just rumours and speculation, so it's a bit early to go around saying it's a "true contendor" or it has "no chance."
