What will I be missing in the Nikon and Pentax that the Canon offers...
The GH1 is a better option period than either the K-x or D5000.
The D5000 has the worst compression and rolling shutter artifacts of all of the DSLRs, in addition to the lack of manual controls. IMO, it's virtually unusable as a serious video camera.
