C100: Peaking and zebra settings

Hi everybody.
Do you have any recommendations for peaking (1 and 2) and zebra (1 and 2) settings?
Also, I can't find the NR settings :)
Can you please help me?
Thank you!

Peaking 1 and 2 are preference. You can set the color of your choice and set the intensity. I wouldn't over do the intensity or it may peak things that are out of focus.
zebra will depend on what you are shooting and what profile. If you're filming with c-log you would want to set the zebra lower so that you know your top end exposure and where you will be clipping

I almost never use zebras anymore since the C100 has a waveform monitor. I also set it to the default of Peaking 2 (because it uses red to outline) and leave everything else alone. I also double check the peaking in the Magnification option to verify.

I like critical focus and I'm yet to see an 'on camera' focus assist feature like peaking that actually works.

I find they are pretty much useless at finding exactly where your focus is at. Either too generous or they don't show up at all, depending on settings.

The focus assist function that I like the most so far is SmallHDs focus assist+. It does darken the image a bit when in use, but it shows real focus really well.

Funny, because I have had great results with the Zacuto EVF peaking, C100 peaking, and EX3 peaking. I own a SmallHD and use its focus assist a lot, but it tends to darken the image so much that you can't really adjust shot composition (as in a run-and-gun situation or just simple camera movement) as it obliterates certain details that you may want in your shot when its out of focus.

Haha, yeah well.... :)

With SmallHD I always feel confident when I see the actual focus depth roll forwards and backwards in depth as I turn my follow focus. I get a feeling that I know exactly where the sweetspot is. I use it in tandem with the C100 LCD, so I always have a 'normal' picture in addition to the focus assist.

On my C100 I feel that the peaking function shows up even outside critical focus. And changing the gain doesn't do much for me I'm afraid...

If you're shooting with C-LOG note the remapped exposure table I put together based on Canon's C-LOG whitepaper you really want to follow when shooting C-LOG on C100/C300/C500. I also second Gary's suggestion to use WM not zebras for determining exposure. Failing that a good LCD with built in WM and actual IRE readout values.

Canon EOS Daily recently published an article I wrote on proper exposure if anyone wants to dig that up, its more comprehensive.
