i read a thread on this forum where someone said they're using the pcd2 card reader i cant find a retailer selling this product ...where are they available?

I ordered it in early June, and still don't have it. Panasonic apparently had no idea the demand would be so great.

Got one with my HPX371, works great! Can view the shots on my macbook pro and don't have to connect the whole camera to the mac pro to load of the footage.

The AJ-PCD2 are currently on backorder, they started shipping in May with shipments going out towards the end of each month. Having said that, we expect a shipping in the next week or two. If you place an order we won't charge your card until it is ready to ship, so if anything changes in the meantime it's easy to change your order.

They're showing up now. We picked up one at AbelCiine Tech in Burbank
yesterday.

Good news is that it works with SnowLeopard with the new drivers.

Does take two USB ports though (one for power, one for data).

Glad to not have to use the Duel Adapter any more!

I've had one since mid may and they work just fine. Transfer rate with a mac book pro is about 1.2-1.3 GB per minute with a reasonably fast 2.5" drive connected via FW 800. The PCD2 is small, simple to use and with the advent of larger cards a convenient alternative to an HPG 10 or 20. The PCD 2 is also much cheaper than either of those other devices.

So I just got my AG-PCD2G on Friday, and it's hot off the press as it says it was built in July of 2010. Ordered it June 15th. The manual states to read the installation instructions in the PDF on the included CD. The CD does indeed have a PDF, but it's only the first of what should be many pages. Bad sign number one. Bad sign number two was during installation of the USB driver on my 64 bit Windows. At one point it says "now put a P2 card in the slot of the device" and when I clicked "continue" it just kept saying "now put a P2 card in the slot". Finally I just hit cancel and rebooted and then it worked. How hard is it to get installation software to work properly? At any rate, it works fine, and is a whole lot easier than dragging my HPX300 up to my computer every time I need to upload P2 footage.

I tested our PCD2 against our PCD20 5-card reader, the latter with FW800. Using Shotput Pro, I got 25 min. per 32Gb card for both readers.

I haven't compared it to our Duel Adapter because I've taken it out of service since we got the PCD2 a couple of months ago.

The duel is a little faster .. I usually divide the gigs by 2 and add a
couple of minutes and it works out (e.g, 32bit == 18 minutes).

Jeff,

Are you using a data verification program like Shotput Pro? Data verification slows down ingest a bit, but is worth the extra time, IMO.

Will Pan AJ-PCD2GPJ Card reader work with Mac OSX 10.5.8?

Will Pan AJ-PCD2GPJ Card reader work with Mac OSX 10.5.8?

Hi all,

Will the Panasonic AJ-PCD2GPJ Card reader work if I'm running Mac OSX 10.5.8 on a MacBook (Not Pro)?

Thanks!
