PC won't recognize HVX

Hi guys, i'm quite the newb at all this. I shot some HD test footage and now i want to get it onto my PC. I've downloaded the Panasonic drivers for this, my problem is when i install them i select the HVX and then it tells me to plug my HVX into the computer using usb 2.0. the thing is, the camera is plugged in and turned to VTR/P2 mode. Is this a problem with my computer or is there something stupid i'm missing?

It's not supposed to be in VTR mode, it's supposed to be in PC mode. Hold the button down a few more seconds and it'll go to PC mode.

thank you very much. i'm used to the dvx, and the shop that rented the cam refused to give me the manual. i just saw that on the panasonic site

so i rerun the panasonic installer, with my camera in pc mode, but the camera says 1394 device Disconnect
what do i do?
this is infuriating

i tink i figured it out
other functions menu, changed it to usb device.
