PC versus Mac gamma for Web delivery

I posted some junk for one of my Web sites yesterday...

http://www.pointbuzz.com/skyhawk-video.htm

No editing, lots of default settings, lots of experimentation with other settings. Lost of anamorphic 480p.

Anyway... I noticed that the gamma doesn't look right on Windows. The workflow was to export from FCP, load it into Compressor, and squeeze away. The result looks very washed out in Windows, but fine on the Mac.

This is the first time after years of compressing video that I've approached it from the Mac side. How do we combat this issue? What kind of voodoo is necessary in Compressor?

set your gamma to 2.2 on the mac and you will see that it is washed out. I do a post gamma adjustment to help it.

Yeah, I get that, but what you're saying is that QT has no built-in compensation for the difference? That's kinda weird.

In the top video on the page at 0:58 there's a large box (speaker?) mounted to the closer seat assembly. Do you know what that is and why are they sending it along for the ride?

As for gamma, I set my Mac to 2.2 to see videos and photos the way the other 95% of the world will see it on the web.

Actually, that's a box that had a wireless video transmitter and some batteries. You can kind of see that there's a triangular bracket in front of it, with a still camera pointed one way, and a video camera pointed the other way. Reporters would sit on the ride, and they could switch between the on-ride, one in the queue in front of the seat, and a wider one about 150 feet away on the other side.
