Patriot 16gb Class 10 LX Series SDHC card

When I first bought my T2i, I bought it with a Patriot 8gb Class 6 SDHC card. So far that card has worked perfectly.

I wanted more storage, so this past weekend I bought a Patriot 16gb Class 10 LX Series SDHC card. The first thing I did was a test where I attempted to fill the card to capacity with video, but it can't seem to record more than a minute or two of video before stopping. The amount of video it can record seems random. Sometimes it will record 30 seconds. Sometimes it will record 5 minutes. The card seems to work fine for pictures.

I tried switching back and forth between the cards to see if it was an overheating problem, but the 8gb card continued to work as normal while the 16gb card couldn't record extended video takes.

I plan on taking this card back to the store, but I was wondering if it is worth exchanging it for the same card in case this is just a bad card, or if it is something in the design of the card itself. Does anybody else have any experience with this card?

The first Patriot 8gb Class 6 card I bought has no problems recording 10-12 minute takes.

The first thing you should do is format your card, then low format your card, see if that works. I have two of those same 16gb cards and they have worked flawless. Now any item can fail or malfunction.

If it doesn't work simply take it back and get a new one

peace

I've used the Patriot 16GB class 10 LX cards for a while now with my HMC150 and HMC40 with NO problems at all. They have been very reliable and fast.

Thanks. I was wondering if I should try a different brand or something, but I'll exchange it for another LX card and test that one out.

same problem, same cards, same camera

same problem, same cards, same camera

as my title says:
same problem, same cards, same camera

i formatted
low-formated
formatted on computer

nothing works
sporadic video
nohing longer than a couple minutes.

i had ordered 2 cards
both didn't work.
returned both

avoid them.

I got this 16-gig Patriot class 10 card from Newegg and am sending it back. On about 30 percent of my clips, it has no thumbnail image, only a generic Quicktime icon, and I am not able to open these files after importing. I get the message: "The movie could not be opened. An invalid public movie atom was found in the movie" -- whatever that means. Gotta love the engineers who write such helpful error messages. Anyway, I blame the card for these failures, since none of my other cards do this.

Hmm. Thanks. I probably will get another brand when I go to exchange it.

It did seem strange that the card worked perfectly fine for photographs, but not for extended video.

I guess it must be some sort of design flaw between the card and the T2i (as the other posters indicated that the cards work with the AVCCAMs).

I bought a Sandisk 4gb Class 4 card to use it with my Zoom H2 audio recorder, put it in the T2i because I wanted to see the buffer filling up once, but I got disappointed :( Even that Class 4 card worked perfect. Well, maybe the buffer came up, only a warning, but not an overfill.
