My camera operator just brought to my attention that when the camera is off and you rock it front to back there is a sound that sounds something like a shutter opeining and closing. Is this normal? When the power is applied it goes away.

There are so many posts on this subject that you wouldn't believe it.

Not to worry, its just the OIS in its unpowered state.

vkrhodes,
you got away luckily on this one; that someone managed to respond with the boring (true) answer first. Normally you'd get a lot of crap for this question! (it is unequivically THE DVX newbie question ;)

ahahah....manual.....i love when ppl ask this question...i rmember when i first got my dvx.i was like WTF? hehehe....but yah..its normal.....RTFM mAN!! :D

I also went to Panasonics site and submitted a support request. Their answer was this is a Phenomenon, it does have something to do with the OIS. Thanks for all the replies.

Hell on this site, you can count on some of the most abuse from the moderators!

Just kidding (well not really), this site is great and if you ask good questions, you will get great answers. The best thing to do is a search first, just to be certain that you are not asking the same question that has been addressed numerous times. The RTFM response is common, but not wholly innappropriate at times.

Enjoy the site.

When I push record on my DVX100a i get a strange blinking red light? Is this normal or should I contact Panasonic? thanks in advance...

I'll try to get Hudson to block you then.

See, you've just got to ask a proper question.

John, our new little buddy wants to be banned......

What? This is our only initiation for DVX newbies and it's a pretty mild one at that. It should work like this---someone asks, "What's that klunk?"--and then there should be at least 4-5 replies telling you your camera is broken before someone spills the beans. You got off easy, I think. Most eveyone laughs it off because after all, they didn't bother to read the manual or do a 5 second search on the forums. Then they hang out at one of the best filmmaking sites on the web. You're welcome to do the same (although the every capitalized word in your response thing does worry me a little.)

I don't know; the Proper Caps For Every Word Is Kind Of Bugging.

What a kook. You can always tell who is gonna make here; the ones who let this lil' fun roll
off their backs or the ones that go into a Quasi meltdown over it.

You got off way easy; and it's only cause we're all in the Zombie threads.
