I'm sure the director did. I'm just willing to bet that the actors got squat.Maybe he/they got a deal to produce/direct a future feature.
Not saying it could hurt them at all. But they're just not getting "serious cash" as you suggested.
You think those actors from Blair Witch are rolling in the dough?
The creators/directors barely got a slice.
Absolutely! If I seemed bothered it's by the fact that BW and PA made these studios millions of dollars. Meanwhile, the people who did all the work got nothing in comparison. Especially the actors.Wow.. o.k., I guess I misspoke Michael. Although, for an unknown actor who's use to acting for free...to me... even $200 a day would be better than nothing. They implied that they were getting something more...either way, doesn't make one bit of difference to me. I'm just glad it's working out for them.
I would think everyone here would be happy to see this happening and it would give hope to all the filmmakers that one day, maybe, they too could make such a successful movie on a really small budget. Even if the creators/directors/actors aren't making anything, it will still open doors for them (one hopes).
...and that's a good thing...right?

That pisses me off.
So I didn't want people to misread your comments and think they made out like gangbusters. They didn't. Peli may get lucky, but he could be a fluke.
I'm definitely routing for him.
Why would he get so little from it?
I get that.So little? Man, that's a lot of money for a $15k movie. I was shocked to hear Goodman paid more than $50k for it.
Do you know how many indies would like to shoot a movie in 7 days for $15k and sell it for $300k? They did pretty well. Very few indies can do that and Schneider & Blum got most of the $300k.
PS- What I also meant was... if they paid 300k... why is he only getting 30K? What happened to the other 270K?Paramount paid $300k for PA. I'd be surprised if Peli made more than $30k.

Peli probably got the short end of the stick, unless Arri Gold was his agent if he even had an agent to negotiate at the time.
That proves my point. The artist gets screwed. Oh well. Such is the biz...Schneider & Blum took it. (exec producer and producer)
The artist gets screwed.
True dat.Well... at least they have that!
Look at the history of great artists of all kinds....most died penniless.

I don't care how you paint it, he got ripped off.
If I made something for 15k. Sold it for 30k (because that's what he pocketed).
And it made upwards to 100 million dollars.... (already made >60million with Halloween yet to come)
I got shafted.
I don't care if it's an invention, a song, a movie, whatever. The rich get richer.
MAH
Like I said, you can paint it any way you want. I disagree. The producers made way more than Peli did. I'll agree to disagree at this point. As of today Paramount has put $10M into marketing it, they risked $10M on a $15k movie, they deserve the money.
