Pannasonic 7-14mm variant?

Hi,

I've had a quick look around, but it seems that there is no other ultra wide angle for m4/3? It needs to have better image quality than the 7-14mm. No more than around £500, auto-focus would be nice.

Thanks

How are you going to get better image quality than the 7-14? That lens is superb.

Olympus makes a 9mm wide zoom but obviously that's nowhere near as wide.

If there existed a better and cheaper alternative to the 7-14, it would surely be common knowledge. There isn't.

Curious what you don't like about the 7-14?

Hmm, well maybe its down to our work flow then. Right now me and my friend are shooting promos for hostels. He uses a GH1 (recently just hacked) and I am using the D7000. I mix between the 24mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.8 and a tamron 17-50mm (when i get it back from the repair shop!!!) and both of us can see a quality difference from when he is using the 7-14mm. I know my gear and I know how to get the most out of it, where as he relies on auto everything (ease of use, he's not really a technical guy!), do you think the auto exposure on the GH1 is where we are going wrong? He also edits the footage on iMovie, will this downgrade the quality even further?

Here is a video we shot recently: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82iBZvAoh2M&feature=plcp

and here is what we are trying to get as close to as possible: https://vimeo.com/35305596#at=0

A big difference I know, but we are trying to get there!

Thanks

Are you talking about the distortion like on the building early on in the clip when you tilt down? I'm just learning about all of this right now, but with a lense that wide you really can't use it for shots with any camera movement and very little subject movement. When you're at 7mm the lens is going to distort a lot of the image just because of how wide it is. Look at the GoPro cameras, they have really wide lenses, but when there is movement you can see the wide angle distortion, but on sporting and action clips it's not as big of a deal.
