GH2 pancakes...14mm or 20mm???

sid...

had a gh2 for a week now, best digital camera i've owned so far...

anyway got it with the 14-140 lense, good for the video but unsure about having on the camera all the time cause its heavy....

pancake looks a good default lense... but can't decide whats best the 14mm or 20mm

read the 20mm is good on the photos but clicks on focus during video?

what about the 14mm does that do the click?

which is the best all rounder?

also what camera bits anyone recomend for a m43 newbie to get... i.e filters etc?

thanks

This may be just my personal bias, but

20mm is a good lens, 14mm is a waste...
Get the 12mm F2 - ever consider that?

I'd just sell the kit lens on ebay, use the cash you were going to spend on the 20mm/14mm and buy the 12mm F2 - not a pancake but still small enough. Supposedly silent AF for movies, not too much slower than the 20mm and faster than the 14 with much better optics. (frankly I want the 12mm to FINALLY have a low light lens for glidecaming that autofocus).

For a walkaround lens, it's not on your list but I use a 14-45. I had the 14mm and sold it in a week. To me it was too wide for general use. For an idea how wide it will be, just leave your 14-140 at 14 and go shoot some pictures.

my 20mm doesnt click, it only buzzes when autofocusing. i generally shoot in manual anyways. for an all rounder the 20mm is the go. its fast, is a good focal length and combined with the tele function it becomes a fast 40mm. 14mm is too wide for general use unless you like wide shots.

I wouldn't say 14mm is a waste. It's a pretty darn good lens, with AF much faster than 20mm. Oly 12mm is better than panny 14mm but it's also muuuch more expensive, only half stop faster and a bit wider... If you can afford it, it's no brainer. I couldn't so I bought a used 14mm for about $250 (vs. $800 for oly) and am quite happy with it:)

Having all the pana four third lenses the 14-140mm is the best outdoor allrounder, why do so many t---- say sell the 14-140mm,

What are you basing this on, have you used both lenses?

Yeah i agree i think the 14-140mm is a brillant lense.... but i'am only a novice film student.

i read those the 20mm is better for photography?

As my 2nd lense for the camera i think the 20mm would be best, nobody says much about the 14mm

the mixed opinions confuse.... someone wrote the 20mm autofocus noise during video recording registers as clicks on the audio track?????

20mm is an amazing lens. In fact I would say if I only could have one lens for this camera I would take this one. I think its the perfect FOV for so many applications. Its great for stills or video. Here is a sample of a photoshoot I recently did for an MMA fighter.

And in video mode it doubles as 20mm and 40mm here is an example of that function in action.

On the negative side... to video autofocus is too slow for even tracking shots... and while the pancake is nice and low profile... I cant get a follow focus gear on it for focus pulling.
