OTHER: Panasonic's PX270 vs. Canon's XF205

The PX270 is way more camera...

It's 10 bit 4:2:2 AVC Ultra, has 3 sensors, a better VF, better 3 ring controls, a better lens, etc. In my opinion the XF205/200 are overpriced. The XF300 is a better value at this juncture. If the XF205 were 4k or had a large sensor or any ground breaking feature, it would be a different story....but essentially it's a fancy Canon HF G30 which sells for $1499.

It depends on your needs. Do you shoot to broadcast and national cable channels? The PX-270 is a better choice.
If you do lower budget, local broadcast, event or corporate work, then the XF200/205 should be fine.

...Other than they both have 20x zoom lenses ( 22x on the PX270 ) and feature SDI and time-code genlock ports, I don't see how this Canon camera has much in common with the Panasonic camera.

I think the correct comparison would be to the XF400 (if it ever shows up). But, it would most definately be priced above the PX-270. The XF200 looks like a very nice camera though.

Apples and oranges. They don't compare. The Panasonic AJ-PX270 is way more camera for considerably more money. Unfortunately for Canon, I find the XF200 overpriced. It'll be interesting to see what the street price end up being.
