I was wondering if anyone had any DESIRED firmware/software changes that they felt would make things easier/bettter?
For me,
it seems that the P2 store should be able to write as individual folders in one partition, instead of individual partitions.
Individual partitions:
1] Makes copying the files from the P2 store somewhere else, time consuming due to the fact that you have to rename the items.
It would be nice to just have all the files in one place that you can just cut and paste all the files to a larger hard drive. The partitioning, makes it so you have to do each partition, and then due to the items being the same name, they can not be pasted into one folder. You have to make new folders with different names.
The HVX200, should have a numbering sequence as a software option.
The way it would work is, when turned on, it remembers how many P2 cards you have inserted untill you reset the counter. Then it uses this numbering sequence to label the main folder of the P2 files. Even better would be the ability to include a name before the number.
This would allow one to simply cut and paste the Main folder(s) to a larger hard drive without doing the renaming personally. It would also allow one to know which project the files were a part of.
Also, I would like to request a utility built into the P2 viewer that would allow one to see the format method of any file, i.e is it a 24PA file, or a 24p file.
I don't use the P2 viewer much, so it may already be there.
Speaking of P2 viewer maybe they can build in the ability to burn DVD's from there. That would be nice. A dvd burning application is not that difficult to make.
It sure would eliminate the headache of the current ones out there that change the format of your progressive files. (I am only imagining that it would not be hard to do being that many burning applications are very inexpensive, or free).
