Panasonic Removable Lens Four Thirds HD AVCHD Camera

ahh ok

I was an apple support monkey in a previous life. Their knowledgebase is useless on this as usual.

It will convert to intermediate codec ok. I'll install the latest update and try HQ. I've now manually set it to 1920.

ran the update...all good

I'm noticing some aliasing in the hair......stair step needed?

On my wish list hunter and kholi- something shot at f/2 and or f/2.8 with a an 800 ISO. indoors and outside overcast with standard setting pic controls. skin tones are a must.

the beers are waiting next time you're in town.

There's been some hype about the 5D in this thread. I've followed a few 5D user forums and it does have some image quality issues like aliasing etc. And it's DOF is far shallower than a 35mm motion picture camera which ultimately rules it out for me. To get comparable 35mm film DOF you have to close down the aperture a couple of stops on the 5D thus negating it's superior low light performance.

Woah. I've never heard that argument before.

Oh ok. I've heard that mentioned before about DOF adapters. I would think that makes the Canon more difficult to focus.

I got anxious when the GH1 was announced because people kept going on about the 2x crop factor and deep DOF. So I did my homework only to discover the GH1's DOF is closer to film than anything else. My whole reason for getting a DSLR is to as closely replicate 35mm film as possible.

I did some slight tweaking to Barry's footy. Added some film grain, bit of color correction and black crushing. Looks pretty filmic to me especially considering it's been shot @ f/5.6 and not been lit by a crew.

Care to post the result? I'm strongly considering exchanging my 5D Mark II for the GH1, and I wanted to do the same sort of post-production tweaking to see if GH1 footage can match or exceed the 5D's look.

I'm rendering it now......macbook pro is a bit slow

It's just a 5min job in fcp. I'm too lazy to do it in color.

I just got into an argument with the art director sitting beside me.

ART DIRECTOR

It looks almost the same

SQUIG

Isn't that the idea......what am I supposed to make her green?

oh and it's just done viewing on the macbook display. I don't have a broadcast monitor here. so for all I know it is green

watchmen, no country for old, matrix, batman didn't have a speck of grain...you guys are watching movies on dirty projectors. donnie brasco was shot sub y2k...anything before that has some grain. since DI came into the picture, grain has been a thing of the past.
