Panasonic P2 Playback

Hi

This is my first port so sorry if its in the wrong spot, anyone have any clues on how to playback raw (mxf) footage from a fs-100 once the data has been traferred off the fs-100? we want to be able to play it back from a fileserver.. perhaps we have to consolidate it first on our avid machines but im sure we could play it back somehow

i have tried the software from panasonic with no luck at all.. have tried XFreader from Opencube, it plays the mxf files that are downloadble from their site but not ours, i also noticed theur mxf files had the audio and the video in the one file.. from the fs-100 it appears to have split the audio and video.. i guess making playback a little more tricky. Any help with this would be appreciated.

the p2 player doesn't support the file structure that the fs-100 creates, it only works with actual p2 cards.

it has nothing to do with mxf format but with where it comes from

ahh thanks!! i think.. yes so i see from what ive been reading, so playing back whats on those fs-100s is going to be a nightmare.. but anything has to be better than swapping terrible 8gig pcmcia cards all the time.. 7 mins or so of shooting before we have to swap out.. shoot me!

I have had no problem playing back files from my FS-100 utilizing P2 log. I typically transfer the files from the FS-100 to my storage hard drive...and to check to make sure the files are okay I use the P2 log.

I imported FS 100 footage directly from the device into HD Log on a Macintosh and viewed it.

I don't see a reason why this wouldn't be possible with p2 log on either Mac or PC.

When you're done shooting with the FS-100, you have to run the Organize P2 function. Once that function is run, you have true P2 data exactly like you have on a P2 card, anything that can read data from a P2 card can read the data from the FS-100.

hey thanks! that worked a treat!! shame the p2 viewer that comes with the camera is such a poorly designed bit of software.. what playback software do most people use for the p2 format?
