Panasonic needs some new reps

I was at the NAB in NYC today, checking out the HVX.

I must say, the reps from Panasonic need to brush up on their skills. They didn't seem to know where the shutter button was when I asked what speed the camera was on. The first guy had to ask the other one and then that guy just kept playing with with the syncro scan. It was really weird.

Then the rest of the time he kept trying to convince me that using P2 cards is easy and the way to go. To him, having a stack of cards, an assistant, and a laptop is the practical choice. And of course he wasn't too happy about me mentioning the Cineporter.

Needless to say, these guys were less than impressive.

Anything new from Panasonic at the NAB???

Nothing much from what I saw. They had one main area set up with the HVX and some of their higher end cameras. I really didn't see a whole hell of a lot of Panasonic stuff.

Abaddon - I agree. I was asking some detailed questions and this Panny guy had no clue what the answer might be, and he was from Jersey headquarters! I did finally get someone who knew, but I would suggest that they make sure all their people in the booth really know the product in and out.

And yes, there really was not much new, but that 65" pro plasma was killer!

Yes, the screen was nice...very nice.

Too bad the reps didn't do their homework.

This same thing occurred in March at an Apple/Panasonic event in Seattle. The Panasonic rep knew little, and was flat wrong on a couple of things.

The Apple guy basically pitched Apple products.

It was disappointing.

Yep, checked out NAB on Tuesday and Wednesday... PANASONIC didn't have much new going on... and there was little in the way of documentation, CDs/DVDs, brochures... then again, it was a reflection of the whole show which def. lacked somewhat...

One has to say though that the PANASONIC booth was always CROWDED even though there wasn't much new on display. People kept on huddling around the HVX200....

The JVC booth nearby had two new cameras on display the GY-HD110 and 250, yet the booth didn't really draw people in...

The B&H booth had a Canon XH-G1 or whatever on display and few people seemed on hand to check it out...
