MQ is the master tape that Pansonic makes.. its a white tape (very good becase you can always find them in the bottom of the bag, and label them with a sharpy marker without a label) and come in a nice plyable case (no more cracked cases) Not to mention they are the densest tapes in particle count which means a very low dropout rate.
DID I JUST HEAR YOU SAY THAT FUJI IS DRY TAPE?/ IS THIS CORRECT? i HAVE FUJI LAYING AROUND USED FOR MY OTHER CAMS. BEEN BUYING PANNY TAPES CAUSE THEIR DRY..

Jarred,
Hi, I'm new to the forum. I'm just about to start shooting my second feature with the DVX100.
I'm a little confused on this tape stock issue. When you say that Fuji uses a dry lubricant on their tapes, do you mean that ALL of their tapes use that, or is it just certain models?
I'm trying to save a little money by buying tapes in bulk from tapestockonline.com. They have the professional quality Panasonic tapes (PQ and MQ) but they range from $4.50 to $5.30 apiece, whereas the Fuji tapes (they only have one model, Fuji DVM-60) are about $3.10 apiece. Are these Fuji tapes okay to use in the DVX-100?
Anyone know if TDK ME tapes are dry or wet? I have a bunch from a long time ago, and was wondering if I should be leary of pulling any footage off of them.

yes, I think people underappreciate the time it saves just writing right on the tape... and the soft case is a huge improvement.

Next to batteries (AA & 9V), tape is the cheapest thing you use. Is it really worth it to save two bucks a tape and take on some risk?
