Hello,

What do people think of using the HVX200 for a feature film? Is this camera still with the times? I really like the look so I am seeking opinions...

I recently got conned into watching a film called the Human Centipede. It was a lot better than I expected but the main thing I noticed in the first seconds of the film was that it was filmed digitally. The second thing I noticed by the end of the film was that it was a truly cinematic film and I didn't notice the digital markers again to the end of the film. That has finally convinced me that the film look has significantly more to do with lighting and framing than the camera used. This film (i recommend reading a review of this film before considering watching it, a film with a title like this is not for everyone) did not seem like TV or even a TV movie at all. It was definitely a film. Use a tripod (use handheld like zoom, sparingly), compose your shots, light dramatically and and select a colour pallette to work from. If you simply capture the action it will look like a documentary. If you compose each shot well (takes a lot more time) it will look like a film. Good luck.

Every camera delivers a slightly different look, even if everything else is the same. Choose the one which gives you the look you want.
