Panasonic HMC150 VW-VBG6 battery - Decoded / Chipped $40

It will probably not show you the remaining time of the battery, like with the IDX batteries.

But the price is good!

I can confirm that it does read remaining time, the fresh battery is over 200 minutes with the LCD out.

"They"' (other vendors) have also figured out the chip or decoded the Canon 5D / 7D batteries at around $30-$40 as well instead of the OEM LP-E6.

Can anyone confirm that they really are 5400 mAh? Many of these cheaper batteries are usually alot less in mAh.

I ordered one - but could do with several more since I have a couple of back to back gigs coming up and may not have time to charge 8 batteries!

Can any one confirm that these really are what they say they are? I may need to order more before this one arrives!

Hi Exact,

i can only speak for those I've linked on post #4..

I got 3 of em, now... Running time is about 220 minutes each indicated by the camera.
3 hours are real - definately.

I used them on a wedding today. I filled nearly 4x 16GB Cards and the 3rd battery still has power for about 2 hours left. And camera has been in - I call it "active standby" - nearly for the whole time (8-9 hours).. dont know the correct word :) i dont mean the standby modus...

Ok - mine arrived a couple of days ago and I can also confirm that this battery works perfectly. It said 260 mins when I started up with a full battery. It recorded 2x 16GB cards (101 mins each) + 62 mins on a third card. If you calculate that at 264 mins that's pretty close :)

The only downside is I do miss the LEDs that are on the IDX batteries that show how much charge is in the battery 'before' you mount it on the camera - OTOH the IDX batteries don't have a minute countdown :(

I have another three of the e-bay batteries on the way.... :)

I just got one in the mail today. I had some difficulty getting it to "snap" into position in the camera. WIth a bit of persuasion it did. It showed 88 minutes, and is now in the charger and I will let you know where it goes from here. But not being rejected from the get go is a good thing. I have three Panasonic batteries, but I am now considering another monitor option and would like to carry the right combination of charger and battery. I love my belts but they are heavy when you have to take a plane. If these work out to power the camera when I need them in a pinch and will power the monitor I will be super happy. I don't mind paying for technology that makes my shoot easier and knowing the Panasonic batteries tell me where I stand at every minute/.second of the shoot is a good thing.

I got two of these and mine shows 6600mAh and 7,4v. Had the same problem as BrianMurphy ..."snap" into position in the camera ...took a file and cleaned the protruding little parts and it fitted. The battery level showed 236, but when i closed the lcd monitor and reopened it, the battery was now showing 346 minutes, not a good sign. Not a big deal $78 for two.
Does 7,4V 6600mAH have any impact since the original should be 7,2 at 5400mAH?

I have found that a couple of them don't quite tell the truth on time remaining. One read 32 mins when we shut the camera off (to change cards) then 7 mins when we powered back on. Not sure why. Even so, in terms of value these are much better than the alternatives.
